About Erie County Criminal History

Erie County criminal records are divided among the City of Erie and Corry police departments, the county prison, the Sixth Judicial District courts, and Pennsylvania agencies. We organize the official portals, office contacts, fees, and request steps so readers can identify the custodian that holds the record they need. Erie, the county seat, contains many of these offices, but each keeps a different part of the record trail.

Why We Built This Site

Pennsylvania makes many court and criminal-history sources public, yet the source depends on the question. Erie County Prison provides current county custody information by phone. The Clerk of Courts keeps adult Common Pleas files, while assigned Magisterial District Courts hold preliminary and summary matters. The Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository supplies PATCH results, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections has the state inmate and parolee locator, and the Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law Public Website maintains public registry data. This resource brings those distinct routes together without treating them as one database.

What You Will Find Here

  • Local record routes: how to search and read Erie County criminal court cases
  • Official check steps: how PATCH name checks, subject Access and Review requests, and statutory fingerprint channels differ
  • Verified contacts: where to reach Room 103, Erie County Prison, the sheriff, and the correct city police department
  • Relief information: where Erie County posts forms for expungement and Pennsylvania limited access

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately operated reference resource, not an Erie County or Pennsylvania government service. It has no authority over a court, police department, prison, sheriff, or state repository. Those limits mean:

  • We do not obtain official checks or retrieve a person's criminal record
  • We cannot submit a Right-to-Know request, expungement petition, or court filing for a visitor
  • We cannot certify a docket, police report, PATCH result, or other government document
  • We do not give legal advice about a charge, warrant, disposition, or record-relief option
  • We cannot promise that an agency's current hours, fees, or procedures have not changed

An official or certified record must come from the Erie office or Pennsylvania agency that maintains it. This resource can only identify that source.

Search Partners

Outside providers operate the search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its own results, fees, data practices, and service terms. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral payment that supports access to this resource. We do not set the provider's prices or control the information it returns.
